Summer vacation is the official kickoff to tanning season for many college students. Not every student can go to five-star destination with ther friends. Most of them just getting their membership to the nearest tanning salon. Many students believe tanning is quite simply the best makeover; they claim to feel slimmer and look healthier. But the biggest myth that students fall victim to, is the belief that tanning can cover up their skin imperfections, like stubborn pimples or acne scarring. (more…)

Vichy solution on skin impurities

Scientist of the Vichy Laboratories, have made a breakthrough in the understanding of imperfections of skin and their recurrence. They proved that imperfections are not only due to sebum overproduction, as you probably already know. Scientists have analysed skin with imperfections more in-depth and have discovered that they are more irritable and reactive. In fact, their sebaceous glands are under the influence of a denser network of nerve endings which renders them more sensitive.

Acne scars

Acne scars are the marks left behind by lesions that had not healed or had become inflamed. There are only two types of acne scars. The simplest scar is nothing more than a spot of skin bearing a brown, pink or purple colour, testimony to the fact that a pimple had been there. The second type is called the ice pick scar and it is a small hole in the skin where the lesion used to be. Scars are usually left behind only by inflamed lesions, such as pustules, nodules or cysts. However, squeezing open a comedo could result in an inflamed lesion and a scar.

Causes and Treatment of Acne During Pregnancy

Women often suffer from acne during their pregnancy period. Higher levels of androgens can inspire the sebaceous glands in your skin to get bigger and boost production of an oily substance called sebum. This extra sebum, mixed with the shed skin cells which line your hair follicles, blocks your pores, creating an excellent environment for rapid bacteria multiplying. Acne is not the only skin problem women are faced with during pregnancy. Pregnancy is a time when your skin becomes extra sensitive, and goes through different prominent changes in preparation for the delivery of baby.

Acne Forms

Although simple pimples are the most common form of acne and the one most people are likely to encounter or suffer from, you should know that there are other forms as well. The simplest form is acne vulgaris, which features only comedones, the simplest of lesions.
